Is your Quizlet not saving? You’re not alone! When you’re trying to study or finish an assignment, it can be incredibly frustrating when the Quizlet app suddenly stops working for no apparent reason. Thankfully, there are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take to fix your Quizlet app so that your hard work doesn’t go to waste and you can do better on that exam.
While Quizlet is one of the best learning tools available, it’s important to first identify the problem you are actually having with your account.
What does “Quizlet not saving” mean exactly? When we discuss the reasons why Quizlet isn’t saving, we usually mean one of these four issues:
- The app or website does not save content.
- Quizlet Live does not update status (including adding requests).
- A set is student-created but saved only under the teacher’s name.
- The content you’re adding isn’t showing in your or other students’ accounts on PC or mobile devices.
Why isn’t Quizlet saving? Here are the fixes:
Now that we know what it means to say Quizlet is not saving, let us look at the reasons for causing this problem and some of the most frequent fixes. One of the reasons for this might be that you are using it on a mobile device. Quizlet does not work often when you clear your browser cache while using it on a smartphone. Try accessing it from a desktop or laptop instead! If your Quizlet is still not saving, there might be a server problem.
Here’s what you need to do if you’re facing this problem while using Quizlet on a desktop browser:
- Quit out of the Quizlet Website and go back in.
- Close the Chrome or Safari browser. Restart the computer, go to Google Chrome.
- Make sure you are logged into the Quizlet website.
- Refresh the Quizlet Page.
- Update the web Chrome browser if needed, or use Safari instead of Chrome.

Check your internet connection
Quizlet saves all of your updated terms automatically, but if it doesn’t, it displays a warning icon next to the terms to indicate that it hasn’t been saved by the program and that you should keep the page open until it does. It frequently occurs when your device loses internet connectivity or when there is a network outage.
Firstly, turn on and off Airplane Mode on your phone. After that, your content should be saved. This technique has worked for many users who have had problems with their courses failing to save properly due to network disruptions.
If you’re still having problems with your device’s network, try the following:
- Move closer to your wireless router or modem.
- If you don’t use Wi-Fi, make sure there are no obstructions between your device and your modem.
- Confirm that both devices are powered on and working properly (for example, by taking a test call).
- If you lose signal strength when moving around your home, try moving your device closer to its source of signal—your wireless router or modem. This will help improve performance as well as reduce interference from other objects in range of your device.
- Consult with a network technician if neither step resolves the issue.
If none of these procedures restores your internet connection, consider resetting your mobile’s Wi-Fi settings:
On iOS devices: Open Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings; then enter the passcode when prompted.
On Android devices: Open settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks; then tap Menu > Reset Settings; then enter the passcode when prompted.
After resetting the settings, reconnect to any available networks and try again. If it still shows issues, just move on to the next solution.
Force-quit the app
If you experience even one dropout during saving that is not caused by network disruptions, your app may be timing out, and due to this, the system saves without actually saving content on your end.
To fix this issue, force quit Quizlet and any other apps that are running in the background. If you’re an iPhone or iPad user, double-click your home button and hold down on Quizlet until it begins shaking. Then swipe up with your finger to quit out of it.
Similarly, close other active apps as well. Now, restart your device by holding down on the sleep/wake button until you see your Apple logo. At that point, try loading Quizlet again and check if its saving your progress.
Log out and log in app
Log out and log back in again by clicking Logout at the top right corner of your screen (or pressing Ctrl+Shift+Q). Wait a few seconds and try adding new content again. If it still doesn’t save, try restarting your device.
Trying to add too many cards at once?
If you are experiencing problems with Quizlet not saving, first try adding fewer cards at a time. Your browser may crash or freeze if you attempt to add hundreds of cards at once, so be patient and test out your limits.
If you’re still having trouble getting your decks saved after trying to add 10–20 cards at a time, check out if you can get one card saved with no problem. If it is saving, try using multiple tabs.
Empty device space
The most common reason for “Quizlet’s not saving errors” seems to be that your device doesn’t have enough memory available. Your phone or tablet may be running low on memory, especially when your device has lot of apps stored. To free up some memory, delete some of the applications you don’t use.
To delete the apps, go to the home screen > tap and hold the app > hit delete and confirm the delete command again. Similarly, you can delete other apps. Now check to see whether Quizlet is saving your cards or not.
Using an ad blocker?
Ad blockers stop your content from being saved. In order for your content to be saved in Quizlet, you need to disable your ad blocker. If you use an iPhone, please make sure that ad-blocking apps and settings are disabled:
- Go to Settings.
- Now tap Safari.
- Select Content Blocker from the drop-down menu under General.
- Now toggle off the adblocker.
Check that your device isn’t turning off
Second, make sure your phone isn’t powering off automatically; sometimes phones save content without really saving it because they lose connectivity before sending everything back to Quizlet servers.

Reset settings on mobile device
When you’re having trouble saving vocabulary on your mobile device, try resetting your device’s settings. On an Android or iOS device, tap and hold on to your device’s home button for a few seconds until you see “Reset Settings.” After confirming that you want to reset your settings, restart your device and sign in again with Facebook or Google. You should now be able to save vocabulary terms on any mobile browser.
Update the App
If you’re having problems with Quizlet not saving, try updating your app. The app update brings a lot of bug fixes, causing interference in the functionality of the app. Quizlet updates every week in order to continue to enhance your experience. Go to the app store or Google Play store to update the app.
Update your device to the latest version of iOS or Android. There are a few steps you can take if your device software is outdated. For example, plug your device into a computer and make sure that it’s up-to-date.
If it is not updated, follow the steps given below to update iOS software:
- Go to Settings.
- Then tap General.
- Now tap “about.”
- If there’s an update available, tap Update Now.
If these solutions don’t work, you might need to factory reset your device. This will erase all of your data, so be sure to back up anything important before proceeding. To do so, go to Settings, then General, then Reset; select Erase All Content and Settings and confirm with Erase iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch). Afterward, set up your device as new. You should now be able to save content on Quizlet again!
CLear App data
If you’re having trouble saving your progress within an app, you should try clearing the app data. To do that, you must follow these steps: Open Settings > Apps. Find the Quizlet app, then tap Storage > Clear Data and Clear Cache.
If it doesn’t help, you need to uninstall and reinstall the Quizlet app. After that, you should be able to restore your progress on your device or Google.
Now re-enter the data manually in the new version to check if it’s saving.
Shift from app to browser version:
If neither of those reasons applies to you and you still aren’t able to get your additions to save on mobile apps, try opening Quizlet from a PC browser like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox instead—the tech behind Quizlet apps isn’t quite as sophisticated as that behind website yet!
